5 Signs You Should Upgrade Your Website Hosting

While website owners usually stick to the same Website Hosting company for years and decades, sometimes it’s a bad idea. The hosting providers benefit from this long relationship but with little effort on their part, the technology of website development makes it hard for the outdated servers to run new code.

A few signs would help you decide weather you need to make changes to your hosting:

  1. You “feel” the website running slowly, front and back (Admin side)
  2. Unsupported PHP versions etc – To keep up with the latest security and functionality updates, the hosting has to make new options available and make certain updates. If they fail to do so, the websites on the server are more volunareble to hacker attacks and may malfunction.
  3. Easier Control Panel: in the past, many hosting providers used control panels such as cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin, as the software base for their clients to manage websites, emails etc. Most of these panels are outdated and contain too many unuseful options. So if your hosting provider uses an old panel, you should check the new panels and see if they might be better for your workflow.
  4. Insufficient Resources: If you are using a hosting company that has less than 5-10GB as a basic plan, you’re being “ripped off”. Memory isn’t that expensive now-a-days.
  5. Lack of customer service: While you might not expect much from a hosting provider, you should expect more from the modern ones, which compete for the best customer service and technical service. Where there is good customer service, there are pleased customers. If you feel like your hosting provider could do more for you, you should consider a switch.
